Pokémon SoulGold Documentation
The live SoulGold documentation is hosted by the project at eemeliri.github.io and updated alongside each release. This page explains what each section answers and when to use it, then links straight there.
There is no separate SoulGold wiki maintained by the author: the official documentation site is the wiki. It is generated from the game’s source data, so it changes when the game changes. In the weeks around v1.2 the author pushed several documentation updates, including one on 5 October that refreshed every guide with outdated information. Sites that copied the docs earlier may now be wrong.
What each section answers
| Section | What it answers | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Pokédex (on this site) | Types, abilities, innates, base stats, learnsets, evolutions, and wild locations for 959 species and forms. | Planning a team, checking a Mega or regional form, or finding where something spawns. |
| Movedex | Every move’s type, category, power, accuracy, PP, priority, and description, with a page per move listing who learns it. | A move works differently from the official games, or you need a list of learners. |
| Abilities | Custom and modified abilities (SoulGold adds many, such as Electromagnetism and Malice Aura), with a page per ability. | An innate or ability you have never heard of shows up in battle. |
| Wild encounters | Route-by-route wild Pokémon, including morning, day, and night variants. | You are filling the Pokédex for Arceus or hunting a specific species with DexNav. |
| TMs / HMs | TM and HM numbers, moves, and where to get each one. In v1.2, TM75 is Agility. | You want a specific TM move before a gym. |
| Items | Item descriptions and locations, including the Shiny Genome, feathers, Exp. Share, Oval Charm, and Mega Stones. | You are looking for a key item, evolution item, or held item. |
| Trainers | Trainer rosters by difficulty, average levels, and locations, including gym leaders and rematches. | You want to prepare for the next gym under a level cap. |
| Guides | The author’s FAQ, bug-report rules, legendary locations, Hidden Grottos, shiny tips, Mega list, trophy rewards, and gift Pokémon. | You need the primary source for anything on this site. |
Official docs or this site?
- Searchable tables (moves, items, trainers, encounters): use the official docs. They are the source data.
- Species lookups: the Pokédex on this site uses the same data, synced on 2026-10-14, and loads without the official site.
- Explanations and plans (what to do, in what order, and why): use the guides, the FAQ, and the walkthrough.
- Version questions: Hackdex for the current patch, and the changelog for what changed.

Reading the docs correctly
- Innates are listed on every species but only unlock in the postgame unless you enable them early in Elm’s lab.
- Trainer rosters vary by difficulty; Hard mode gyms are double battles.
- The docs describe the latest build. If you are on an older patch, some moves and innates will differ; update on Hackdex (saves carry forward).
