Pokémon from every generation appear, but SoulGold’s dex is its own regional list rather than the national order. Completing it means catching the 608 non-legendary, non-mythical Pokémon; the reward is Arceus from Professor Oak (see legendaries).

How to read an entry

  • Abilities are the regular and Hidden Abilities. Hidden Grotto Pokémon always have their Hidden Ability.
  • Innates are extra passive abilities that unlock in the postgame. Every species has them. You can switch them on early, or off entirely, from the bookcases in Elm’s lab.
  • Base stats and types are listed per form, so Mega and regional forms have their own entries. The official FAQ says regular species get no type or BST changes during the main game; some gain an extra type from an innate in the postgame.
  • Learnsets include level-up, TM/HM, tutor, and egg moves. Tutor and egg moves become permanently available from the Olivine and Blackthorn move masters.
  • Locations list wild encounters. Pokémon with no wild location come from gifts, trades, eggs, grottos, or legendary events.

What changed in the v1.2 data

Compared with the August snapshot this page used before, the October sync picked up these changes from the official data:

  • Innates updated for 126 species and forms, including Pidgeot, Arbok, Poliwrath, Regigigas, Phione, Hisuian Samurott, Roaring Moon, and Iron Leaves.
  • Regular abilities changed for 15 entries, among them Cinderace, Garchomp, Rillaboom, Inteleon, Lucario, and the Mareep line.
  • Base stats adjusted for three forms: Mega Meowscarada (BST 627 → 630) and the Gigantamax-form entries of Lapras (630 → 635) and Corviknight (585 → 595).
  • New moves such as Stone Axe and Aqua Cutter on Kabutops, Sacred Sword on Sceptile, and Drain Punch on Pawmot.
  • An unused Zarude form was removed from the data.

The full release notes are on the changelog.

New starter Megas

SoulGold adds Mega Evolutions for the three starters that never had one: Mega Typhlosion, Mega Meowscarada, andMega Primarina. Search for them above to compare stats with the base forms, and read the Mega guide for the Mega Ring timing and type-generic stones, or the starters guide for all nine starter choices.

Pokédex tips

  • Use DexNav after your first Poké Balls to chain a species you found here; chains of 50 and 100 also raise shiny odds.
  • Most regional forms are in Baoba’s Safari Zone, whose second and third areas open before the Ice Path and after Tohjo Falls.
  • For trainers, items, and TM locations, use the documentation hub.
