Legal, ROM Policy, and Privacy
soulgold.run is an unofficial fan documentation site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, or GAME FREAK, and it is not run by the SoulGold author or Hackdex.
ROM policy
This site does not host Pokémon ROMs, BIOS files, or a pre-patched SoulGold image. Official distribution is a patch on Hackdex. You must supply a legally obtained Pokémon Emerald dump. Hackdex states that your ROM stays in your browser and is never sent to them; it verifies the checksum and applies the patch locally.
We do not link ROM mirrors, pre-patched downloads, or “all working” cheat-code lists. The SoulGold FAQ says Hackdex is the only official source and that cheats are not supported and likely to corrupt saves.
The browser player (EmulatorJS)
The homepage and play page reserve an EmulatorJS frame so you can load a file you patched yourself. The player can retain that file in this origin’s IndexedDB for direct play on later visits. It is not uploaded by the player, and no ROM is bundled in this site. Clearing site data for soulgold.run removes the stored file and any browser saves, so export saves you want to keep.
Privacy: what this site collects
The site has no accounts and no forms. Third-party services load on every page except the embedded player frame:

Your ROM file and in-browser saves stay in your browser and are not sent to any of these services. You can block these scripts with a content blocker; the guides, Pokédex, and player still work.
Accuracy
Game facts on this site come from Hackdex, the SoulGold GitHub releases, and the official documentation, and were last checked on 2026-10-14 againstv1.2. SoulGold updates often; if a page disagrees with the official sources, the official sources are correct. Version history is on thechangelog.
Trademarks
Pokémon, Nintendo, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and related names are trademarks of their owners. Support them by buying official games. Screenshots and official guide images belong to their creators and are used to document the hack.
