Type-generic stones

SoulGold Mega Evolutions

Official README: all Mega Evolutions are available, and Mega Stones are type-generic stones. New starter Megas exist for Typhlosion, Meowscarada, and Primarina.

The three conditions

  1. Advance through the Goldenrod Team Rocket takeover to receive the Mega Ring.
  2. Give the Pokémon its matching type-generic stone.
  3. During move selection, press Start and choose the Mega command before selecting the move.

Each Pokémon must hold the stone shown by the project’s Mega table. A species can have more than one target form, so check the exact item rather than assuming the conventional retail stone name.

Exceptions and recent changes

  • Rayquaza does not need a held stone. It Mega Evolves when it knows Dragon Ascent, as in the official games.
  • Follower sprites (v1.2): most starter Mega forms now have overworld follower sprites, credited to Rafael Sanna. Mega Primarina and Mega Meowscarada followers are still to come.
  • Base stats (v1.2 docs): Mega Meowscarada received three missing BST points in a September docs update. Check the Pokédex for the current numbers.
Starter timing: Elm gives the starter Mega Stone / Bondstone at a later story point. The FAQ does not specify one universal badge number, so do not treat an early-game NPC absence as a bug.
