100+ trophies

SoulGold Achievements and Trophies

Official trophy milestones: speak to the gentleman on Route 40. Fifteen trophies earn the Shiny Genome. Details from the official achievement guide.

Where to check progress

SoulGold contains more than 100 trophies. The milestone NPC is the gentleman in the Route 40 house: speak to him to view progress toward the next threshold and collect any earned reward.

  1. Accumulate trophies naturally through the main story, collection goals, and postgame activities.
  2. Return to Route 40 after crossing a listed threshold.
  3. Inspect the Pokémon preview before accepting. Milestone Pokémon can roll shiny, and the preview displays that result.

Milestone rewards

TrophiesRewardWhy it mattersPlanning note
15Shiny GenomeConsumable that turns any owned Pokémon shiny.Save it for a hard-to-reroll target or a final team member.
30Ash-GreninjaBattle Bond transforms it after scoring a knockout.Build around a cleanup role rather than treating it as a normal Greninja.
45PoipoleUltra Beast with a major payoff after learning Dragon Pulse.Check its current SoulGold learnset before planning the evolution timing.
60Eternal FloetteSpecial high-stat Floette that can Mega Evolve.Pairs directly with the Fairytite Mega route.
75ZarudeLate trophy mythical reward.Useful as a major collection checkpoint before the 100 target.
100Original Color MagearnaPrestige reward for reaching the highest listed milestone. Its own Mega route uses Steeltite.

A practical trophy route

  • First target: 15. This is the most immediately flexible milestone because the Shiny Genome works on any Pokémon you already own.
  • Second target: 30. Ash-Greninja is a complete battle reward rather than a consumable, so it changes team-building options.
  • Collection route: 45–75. Poipole, Eternal Floette, and Zarude are unique species rewards that also contribute to broader Pokédex goals.
  • Completion route: 100. Original Color Magearna is the listed capstone, though the game contains more trophies beyond the milestone count.
Renamed in recent builds: older guides and videos call the 15-trophy reward the “Shiny Patch”. The official milestone guide now names it the Shiny Genome; it works the same way.

Side systems worth checking

The in-game trophy list is the authority on each objective. Before you head to the League, open it and compare it with the optional systems below, which are the easiest parts of SoulGold to skip:

  • Hidden Grottos. They reset daily; see the grotto locations.
  • Battle facilities. The Battle Factory opens after Gym 3; the trainer card also has a star for a 50-win streak in the Battle Tower or Factory.
  • Legendary and boss encounters. The legendary guide lists where each one is.
  • Mega Evolution. The Mega Ring arrives after the Goldenrod Rocket takeover; see Mega Evolutions.
  • Pokédex completion. Catching all 608 non-legendary, non-mythical Pokémon also earns Arceus from Professor Oak.

Trainer card stars

The official FAQ lists four stars for the trainer card. Trophies are one of them:

StarRequirement
1Hall of Fame entry
280 trophies
3Pokédex completion
450-win streak in the Battle Tower or Battle Factory

The milestone table is not the full requirement list for every trophy. Use it as a reward roadmap, then inspect the in-game trophy menu for individual objectives. The shiny guide explains the Shiny Genome and shiny reward previews in more detail.
